Silver Search legislation was passed by the Illinois General Assembly on January 1, 2016 to assist in missing person cases involving individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia.

The Silver Search Task Force created a program and toolkit that utilizes Endangered Missing Person Advisories to mobilize public search efforts through emails, faxes, radio, television, text messages, and law enforcement bulletins.

Dynamic message signs on Illinois interstates and tollways can now display missing person information during advisories through partnerships with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway Authority.

Of 121 Silver Alerts issued since the program's creation, all but one missing person has been found.

Senate urges county authorities throughout Illinois to utilize the Silver Search program more frequently.
