Richard K. Hakanson of Silvis passed away on April 2, 2022; he was born September 21, 1934, in Crawfordsville, Iowa, to Elmer and Juanita (Rees) Hakanson.

Served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959; married Phyllis Cox on February 27, 1960 (deceased 1997), and later married Barbara (Brand) Bennett in 2000.

Employed at John Deere and retired in 1994; was a self-taught woodworker and handyman who loved American history, hot rods, and animals.

Survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Reesa (Kenneth) Douglas, and brother E. Rees (Kathy) Hakanson.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and directs presentation of this resolution to the Hakanson family.
