Commemorates the death of John Thomas "Tom" Long of Godfrey, who passed away on January 28, 2022.

Long earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting from Eastern Illinois University, a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University School of Law, and a C.P.A. from the University of Illinois, and served in the U.S. Army.

Had extensive professional careers as a law clerk, tax specialist, Madison County Assistant State's Attorney, CEO and vice chairman of Argosy Gaming Company, and chairman of First National Bank of Grant Park and First Community Bank of Godfrey.

Served in various political and civic roles including Madison County Republican Chairman (1986-1991), member of the White House Advance Office, and participant in the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign and Electoral College.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to Long's surviving family members, including his wife Robin, three daughters, six grandchildren, and multiple siblings.
