Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Carl Fischer of Springfield, who passed away on March 25, 2022.

Fischer earned a bachelor's degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis (1962), served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy, and founded Carl Fischer Associates Architects in 1976, later becoming FWAI Architects.

Fischer received multiple awards for architectural excellence from the American Institute of Architects, including recognition for designing and restoring Ronald Reagan's boyhood home in Dixon.

Fischer was active in professional and civic organizations including the American Institute of Architects, Sangamo Club, Island Bay Yacht Club, and served on boards at Southern Illinois University and Menard County.

Fischer is survived by his wife Glynda Kay Fischer (47 years of marriage), four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
