Robert Alan "Bob" Gill passed away on April 29, 2022; he was born in East St. Louis on March 3, 1951, and graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1969.

Gill earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and spent his career in the audiovisual field, including work at Double Helix production company, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and St. Charles Community College.

Gill was an avid camper, hiker, and photographer involved with the Sierra Club and served as a citizen advocate for Illinois environmental issues.

Through his production company Hometown Productions, Gill created historical documentaries ranging from early mound builders to the St. Louis World's Fair, and received an award from the Illinois Historical Society for a documentary on the Village of Leclaire.

The Illinois Senate mourns Gill's passing and extends condolences to his surviving family members including his daughter Rebekah Visco, grandchildren, siblings, and companion Yvonne McCall.
