SR1076 - Memorial for Arlyn Lober

• Arlyn Lober of Springfield died on May 12, 2022, at age 98 after being born May 8, 1924, in Cissna Park to Edward and Rosella Roll Lober.

• Served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 11th Armored Division and was awarded the Purple Heart for service in the Battle of the Bulge.

• Taught math and coached basketball at Lanphier High School in Springfield for 33 years, taking five teams to State with over 400 career wins before retiring from coaching in 1973 and becoming athletic director until 1986.

• Inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and Springfield Sports Hall of Fame; was active in Peace Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans, Kiwanis International, and Ansar Shriners.

• Senate expresses condolences to his surviving wife Maureen, three daughters, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
