Senate Resolution honoring Thomas J. "Tom" Costello of Urbana, who passed away on April 15, 2020.

Costello worked 40 years with the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, rising to assistant managing director and mentoring hundreds of employees.

Served as a senior instructor in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois teaching speaking and leadership courses since 1972, regularly recognized for excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Extensive volunteer involvement including youth sports coaching, service on boards of United Way, Community Foundation of East Central Illinois, Champaign Rotary, and others; served on Urbana City Council and chaired the Urbana Civilian Police Review Board.

Survived by wife Rosemary, sons Joseph and Jack, and four grandchildren; preceded in death by son Patrick.
