Illinois Senate mourns the death of Florida Hayden, who passed away on July 4, 2022.

Florida Hayden was born March 14, 1934, in Bolton, Mississippi, graduated from Morris Brown College in 1956, and married Robert Alexander Hayden Jr. in 1960, with whom she had two children.

Taught third grade at Washington Elementary School in Maywood for over 25 years, known as a disciplinarian with a loving heart who treated students as her own children.

Actively participated in Second Baptist Church in Maywood since 1958, serving with the Young People's Choir and Women's Day Committee as co-chairman and chairman.

Survived by her husband Robert, son Bobby, daughter Gina, grandson Justin, great-grandson Landon, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and former students.
