Expresses the Illinois Senate's condolences on the death of Daniel L. "Dan" Schmidt of Groveland, who passed away on July 5, 2022.

Recognizes Schmidt's career as a police officer for nine years (1.5 years with Peoria County Sheriff's Department and 7.5 years with Peoria Police Department) and subsequent 19-year career as a defense attorney in civil lawsuits.

Notes Schmidt earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois and a juris doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was elected to The Order of the Coif and The Order of the Barristers; was admitted to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, and Maine; and was elected to the 3rd District Court of Appeals in 2002.

Honors Schmidt's involvement as a life member of Ducks Unlimited and member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, as well as his passion for sports and conservation.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Schmidt's surviving family: his wife Maureen, son Matt, and brothers Frank and Steve.
