Jason Edward McDowell, O.D. of Jacksonville passed away on July 31, 2022, born September 12, 1973 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Dr. McDowell obtained his Doctorate of Optometry from University of Missouri-St. Louis and practiced optometry in Hannibal, Pittsfield, and Jacksonville beginning in 2001 at International Eye Care Center.

Active in his community as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, basketball coach at Westfair Christian Academy, and member of Jacksonville Rotary Club, Pathway Board, and Salvation Army Board.

Survived by his wife Mary Ellen (married December 12, 1992), parents Edward E. and Andrea R. McDowell, sons Clayton E. and Carter T. McDowell, brothers Jeremy and Justin McDowell, and aunt Amy Phillips.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to Dr. McDowell's family and directs presentation of a suitable copy of this resolution to his family.
