Henry Llewellyn "Chappie" Chapman Jr. passed away on August 15, 2022, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Chapman was born December 9, 1937, in Pekin and graduated from Pekin High School in 1955 and University of Illinois in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Chapman had a 41-year financial services career, earning his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1981, achieving the Broker Hall of Fame in 2000, and retiring as senior vice president from Wells Fargo Advisors in 2017.

Chapman served extensively in the Peoria community, including as chairman of the Peoria Public Building Commission (1988-1990), Peoria Symphony Orchestra (1980-1982), and Lakeview Museum Arts and Sciences Board (1989-1991), and was appointed by Governor Jim Edgar as an Illinois Arts Council trustee (1990-2004).

Chapman is survived by his wife of 50 years Janice Lynne Zweifel Chapman, two sons (Tripp and Carter), five grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Carol Dikeman and Joan Stanisic.
