Illinois Senate mourns the death of Salome Bobbie Matthews Wallace of Richmond Heights, Florida, who passed away on July 16, 2022.

Wallace was born September 15, 1931, in Buenavista, Georgia, earned a master's degree in Social Work and Early Childhood Education from Florida International University, and served her community for over 70 years.

Wallace directed Head Start programs across Dade County and created the Teen Center to employ and train youth in communities including Florida City, Homestead, Perrine, Brownsville, Little Haiti, and Opa Locka.

Wallace is survived by three sons, one daughter, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

Senate extends sincere condolences to Wallace's family and friends and directs a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to her family.
