Born April 14, 1934 in Elgin, he was an Eagle Scout with 36 merit badges, 1952 Elgin High School graduate, and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve

Worked as a Village of South Elgin police officer and held positions at Railway Express Agency, Sheldon Manufacturing, Elgin Sweeper Co., and Roberts Express as an OTR driver

Life member of VFW Post 2327 of South Elgin, serving as two-term commander (1991 and 2003) and color guard commander for 20 years; also served as Democratic precinct committeeman

Survived by three sons, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his brother Gary L. Bochum
