Attended United Township High School (1963), Black Hawk College, Augustana College, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale; earned technical certificates in welding and automotive mechanics from Scott Community College

Worked at Rock Island Lines, ADM, and International Harvester, retiring as a union carpenter; officiated multiple sports including wrestling, volleyball, basketball, football, softball, and baseball

Survived by wife Catherine Creighton, stepson Paul Creighton with step-grandchildren Miley and Owen, siblings Estella, Cecilia, and Mike Rangel, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
