Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Louis "Lou" Rivera Jr. of Silvis, who passed away on October 31, 2022.

Lou Rivera was born December 25, 1933, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict in California and the Philippines, and married Mary Cervantes in 1958.

Rivera had a long career as a professional photographer for the Rock Island Arsenal and Moline Dispatch, and continued self-employed photography work after retirement.

Rivera enjoyed racquetball, dancing, live music, movies, art, playing ukulele and harmonica, and boomerang throwing.

Rivera is survived by his daughter Martine Van Speybroeck, brothers Arthur Rivera and Jimmy Guerrero, and sisters Jacqueline Romano, Mercedes Martinez, Jessica Ludway, and Tilly Mendoza.
