Honors John Hughes, a public broadcasting executive who passed away on September 5, 2022, at age 71.

Hughes held leadership positions at multiple public broadcasting stations including New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority, Georgia Public Broadcasting, WABE Atlanta, Howard University's WHUT, Pacifica's WPFW Washington D.C., and most recently KPVU at Prairie View A&M University starting in 2016.

Rebranded KPVU as "The Art of Soul" to feature neo-soul, jazz, world music, Latin music, R&B, and hip-hop programming while serving as general manager.

Recognized for advocating diversity in broadcast programming, mentoring students of color at historically Black colleges and universities, and establishing a broadcast engineering program at Prairie View A&M to increase Black representation in the industry.

Survived by six siblings and an extended family; preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas.
