Richard H. Driehaus of Chicago died on March 9, 2021; he was born July 27, 1942 and was a lifelong Chicago resident who earned degrees from DePaul University and honorary doctorates from DePaul and St. Xavier University.

Founded Driehaus Securities Corporation in 1979 and Driehaus Capital Management in 1982, which currently manages $13.2 billion in assets; was ranked in the top 1% of portfolio managers early in his career.

Featured by Barron's magazine in 2000 as one of 25 most influential individuals in the mutual fund industry over the past 100 years.

Donated over $5 million annually to philanthropic and community service endeavors through individual giving and The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation; established the annual Richard H. Driehaus Prize for classical architecture through the University of Notre Dame since 2001, a $200,000 prize promoting traditional and sustainable architecture.

The Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his three daughters (Tereza, Caroline, and Katherine), two sisters, and extended family.
