Recognizes her achievements including being the first Black dancer/aerialist in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus's Blue Unit in 1972 and earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004

Honors her creative pursuits in acting, music, and writing, including her 1993 role in Black Ensemble Theater's production of "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and her work as a jazz singer and pianist

Acknowledges her community service including substance abuse counseling training, domestic abuse hotline volunteering, and her role as vice president of the DuSable High School Alumni Coalition, which helped secure landmark status for the school in 2013

Extends condolences to her surviving family: husband Geoffrey F. Brown, children Geoffrey Jr. and Christina, and siblings Gerry and Anna
