Illinois Senate honors State Senator Antonio "Tony" Muñoz for 23 years of service representing the 1st Senate District in the Illinois General Assembly.

Muñoz sponsored nearly 2,000 bills with more than 800 signed into law, focusing on practical legislation that worked across party lines.

Enacted significant legislation including the Law Enforcement Officer Bulletproof Vest Act, protections for military service members returning to civilian life, restrictions on sex offenders living near schools and child facilities, and job applicant protections regarding criminal history inquiries.

Co-founded the Latino Caucus and led efforts to overhaul education funding formulas, provide in-state tuition to all Illinois students, increase minimum wage, and support procurement opportunities for minorities, women, veterans, and people with disabilities.

Served as Senate Assistant Majority Leader since 2009 and chaired the Licensed Activities, Transportation, Executive Appointments, and Veterans Affairs Committees before resigning.
