Notes his prior service as executive director of JAARC/Pathway School and teacher at Petersburg Porta High School, as well as his involvement with Boy Scouts of America

Acknowledges his extensive community involvement including service with Grace United Methodist Church, First Christian Church, Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, In His Service organization, Passavant Area Hospital, and various civic organizations

Directs presentation of a copy of the resolution to Hurt's surviving family members including his wife, three children, five grandchildren, and two sisters
