Served as president of the Economy Shop and was active with the Historical Society of Oak Park-River Forest and American Opera Society of Chicago

Received the Rita Johnson Humanitarian Award and Spirit of Thrive Award in 2014; authored biography "The Woman Who Never Fails" about Grace Wilbur Trout, which earned an Award of Merit from the Illinois State Historical Society

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to her surviving family, including sons John and James and daughter Allison Ruth Poplett
