David Schweig, a longtime Oak Park resident, passed away on June 4, 2022 at age 86.

Schweig was born in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood on January 15, 1936 and earned a degree in Economics from Denison University in Ohio.

He worked for the National Labor Relations Board and Schwinn Bicycle Company before becoming an entrepreneur in food service and real estate.

Schweig was known for his sense of humor, keen intellect, and advocacy for civil rights and Second Amendment support.

The Senate extends condolences to his surviving wife Cynthia, three daughters, stepchildren, grandchildren, and extended family.
