Sam A. Montalbano of Sherman passed away on November 28, 2022, and the Illinois Senate expresses its condolences to his family and loved ones.

Born May 9, 1929, in Springfield to Leo and Jane Montalbano; served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Married Carole L. Lawson on August 4, 1956; she preceded him in death on April 27, 2020.

Active member of multiple organizations including the Church of the Little Flower, Sangamon County Board, Teamsters #916, VFW 10302, and the Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail.

Survived by daughter Karen (Hoyt) Hampton, sons Mark (Donna) Montalbano and John (Becky Ward) Montalbano, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister Marquerite Culton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
