Sangamon County Board may form, manage, fund, and operate a volunteer rescue squad to assist law enforcement, firefighting, emergency response, and first responder services within the county.

Volunteer rescue squad may locate missing persons including drowning victims, perform supporting roles in firefighting, and extricate persons from unsafe conditions.

Sangamon County Board may provide benefits to rescue squad volunteers who suffer disease, injury, or death in the line of duty.

Community mental health boards must meet and organize within 30 days after members are first appointed or reappointed upon expiration of a member's term.

Community mental health boards must comply with Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act requirements, and boards have authority to set, maintain, and implement their budgets.
