IL HB1136

Creates the offense of unlawful dissemination of crime, crash, or accident scene information in the Criminal Code of 2012.

Applies to first responders and governmental agency representatives who disseminate photographs or victim names from crime, crash, or accident scenes before immediate family members are notified.

Exempts public safety alerts that do not include images or names of victims and are intended to warn the public to avoid the scene.

Defines "first responder" as law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, and public safety telecommunicators; "accident" as unexpected noncriminal incidents causing property damage or injury; and "immediate family" as spouse, parent, stepparent, adult child, or guardian.

Establishes the offense as a Class A misdemeanor, and designates the law as the Accident and Crisis Victims Privacy Protection Act.
