IL HB1220

Establishes a new appointment process for vacant trustee positions on the Thorn Creek Basin Sanitary District board, effective upon enactment

Allows mayors of municipalities located wholly or partially within the District to recommend candidates for trustee vacancies within 30 days of a vacancy occurring

Requires a majority of eligible mayors to vote to select a trustee from among the recommended candidates, with each mayor's voting power based on population (one vote per 5,000 residents or fraction thereof)

Population figures for determining mayoral voting power are based on the most recent federal decennial census

For vacancies existing on the effective date, mayors have 30 days from that date to submit their recommendations
