HB1237 - Illinois Strategic Action Plan for Aging Equity Act

• Creates the Strategic Action Planning Commission for Aging Equity, co-chaired by the Governor's Office and Department on Aging, to develop a comprehensive strategic action plan for aging equity covering 2024-2036.

• Commission shall consist of state agency directors, appointed elected officials, and voting members from the public representing diverse geographic areas, age, gender, race, ability, socioeconomic status, and professional expertise in aging-related fields.

• Commission must adopt guiding principles including advancing aging equity across the life course, developing cultural humility, recognizing structural inequities, and harnessing knowledge of older persons in communities.

• Governor shall appoint commission members within 3 months; commission must complete preliminary plan within 18 months and final plan within 24 months, with 2-month public comment period included.

• Plan must address demographic, economic, and fiscal data through 2041; provide actionable recommendations on housing, transportation, healthcare, employment, caregiver support, and other services; and submit updates every 4 years extending 15 years forward.
