Effective December 31, 2028, no person may manufacture for sale in Illinois a washing machine without a microfiber filtration system.

Effective December 31, 2030, no person may sell in Illinois a washing machine that lacks a microfiber filtration system.

Defines a microfiber filtration system as a filter capable of reducing microfiber emissions by 90% with a mesh size of 100 microns or less.

Establishes that microfibers are synthetic fibers shed from textiles during washing and pose environmental threats to Illinois waters including Lake Michigan.
