IL HB1372

Adds physical therapists to the list of health care providers who may examine claimants for the homestead exemption for persons with disabilities, alongside physicians, optometrists, advanced practice registered nurses, and physician assistants.

Allows chief county assessment officers to automatically renew the homestead exemption for persons with disabilities without requiring annual reapplication, subject to specified restrictions.

Prohibits automatic renewal if the examining health care provider determined the disability will not continue for 12 months or more, the exemption was deemed erroneous, or the claimant reported ineligibility.

Maintains the $2,000 annual homestead exemption for persons with disabilities that has been in effect since 2007.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
