HB1384 Summary

• Adds Section 356z.61 to the Illinois Insurance Code requiring group and individual health insurance policies and managed care plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2025 to cover medically necessary reconstructive services intended to restore physical appearance after trauma.

• Defines "reconstructive services" as treatments performed on body structures damaged by trauma to restore physical appearance.

• Amends the Health Maintenance Organization Act to add Section 356z.61 to the list of Insurance Code provisions that HMOs must comply with.

• Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to require coverage of medically necessary reconstructive services under the medical assistance program for eligible persons, using the same definition of reconstructive services.
