IL HB1386

Amends the River Edge Redevelopment Zone Act to authorize the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to certify one additional pilot River Edge Redevelopment Zone in the City of Kankakee.

Adds Kankakee to the list of cities eligible for pilot zones, joining East St. Louis, Rockford, Aurora, Elgin, and Peoria.

Maintains the prohibition on certifying additional River Edge Redevelopment Zones beyond those specified, with existing zones continuing until their scheduled termination.

Requires municipalities with certified zones to submit a plan within 60 days for encouraging participation by minority persons, women, persons with disabilities, and veterans.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
