IL HB1389

Adds taking a body camera or any part of a body camera from a peace officer to the list of acts that constitute obstructing justice under Illinois Criminal Code Section 31-4.

Makes taking a body camera from a peace officer a Class 1 felony if the camera is taken during commission of an offense that caused great bodily harm to the officer or another person.

Makes any other violation of taking a body camera from a peace officer a Class 2 felony.

Requires the person taking the camera to act with intent to prevent apprehension or obstruct prosecution or defense of any person, consistent with existing obstruction of justice requirements.
