HB1429 Summary

• Eliminates the prohibition on licensed concealed carry of firearms on buses, trains, and other public transportation paid for with public funds, and on property controlled by public transportation facilities.

• Maintains all other existing prohibited areas for concealed carry, including schools, courthouses, hospitals, detention facilities, airports, stadiums, libraries, and public parks.

• Allows private property owners to prohibit concealed firearms by posting required signage, except for private residences.

• Permits licensees to store firearms in locked vehicles or containers in parking areas of prohibited locations and to carry firearms in vehicles while accessing those parking areas.

• Authorizes colleges and universities to restrict firearms in campus vehicles and to establish policies for firearm storage and designated parking areas.
