Repeals provisions allowing the county board to remove a county treasurer for neglecting to render accounts, refusing to answer questions about office operations, or refusing to provide requested information to the county board.

Repeals provisions allowing removal of a county treasurer for being in arrears with the county or for other misconduct in office.

Establishes that a county treasurer's office becomes vacant only upon death, resignation, or other causes, with vacancies filled by appointment under the Election Code.

Retains existing provisions regarding appointment of a suitable person to perform treasurer duties until a successor is elected or appointed and qualified.

Maintains provisions for military service, including that the office does not become vacant when the treasurer is in active military service and allowing an appointee to perform duties during that period.
