IL HB1561

Allows school districts to maintain on-site trauma kits at each school containing tourniquets, compression bandages, hemostatic dressings, protective gloves, markers, scissors, and instructional materials from the Stop the Bleed campaign or American College of Surgeons.

Requires school districts to conduct trauma response training for all employees at least once every 2 years, including instruction on responding to life-threatening bleeding and using trauma kits, with training available from the American College of Surgeons or similar organizations.

Provides civil liability immunity for school district employees trained in trauma response when using trauma kits, except in cases of willful or wanton misconduct.

Requires trauma kit products to be manufactured in the United States whenever possible.

Applies to both regular school districts and charter schools (Sections 10-20.85 and 34-18.82 of the School Code).
