School boards and state-supported educational institutions may provide safety education instruction in all grades as part of regular courses of study.

Safety education instruction must include automobile safety, home safety (including safe gun storage), recreational safety, school building safety, vocational work safety, CPR for grades 9-11, and CPR/automated external defibrillator training via video for grades 6-8.

Adds water safety instruction using evidence-based materials as a required component of safety education for students in prekindergarten through grade 6.

Schools must provide at least 16 hours of safety education instruction during each school year.

All educator preparation programs must include safety education instruction appropriate to the grade level of the teacher's license, either as separate courses or integrated into existing subjects.
