IL HB2215

Establishes that persons providing teledentistry are considered to practice dentistry and must meet the same standard of care as in-person dental services, with dentists required to provide patients their name, direct telephone number, and physical practice address prior to treatment.

Prohibits dental service providers using teledentistry from requiring patients to sign agreements that limit their ability to write reviews or file complaints with the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or other regulatory agencies.

Creates Section 46.5 prohibiting the sale of clear aligners to patients without written or electronic confirmation from an Illinois-licensed dentist that the patient received an intraoral or extraoral examination and review of diagnostic imaging to detect conditions that would preclude safe orthodontic treatment.

Requires clear aligner sellers to maintain dental examination documents and diagnostic imaging records for at least 7 years after the date of sale.

Adds definitions for "informed consent" (direct communication between treating dentist and patient about treatment) and "clear aligner" (a medical device used in orthodontic treatment to gradually move teeth or jaw and correct misalignment).
