HB2268 Summary

• Amends the Child Care Act of 1969 to expand the definition of "child" for purposes of admission to child care institutions, group homes, and maternity centers from under 21 years of age to under 22 years of age when referred by a parent or guardian.

• Extends the termination of care deadline from 90 days following completion of public school secondary education or eligibility for such a program to apply to individuals under 22 (rather than 21) years of age.

• Prevents termination of care for individuals under 22 years of age who are awaiting adult residential placement under the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, with termination occurring only after successful placement is achieved.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
