IL HB2274

Amends the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act to modify qualifications for speech-language pathology assistant licensure.

Adds a third qualification pathway: individuals with a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from a regionally or nationally accredited institution may qualify if they complete at least 100 hours of documented field work supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist.

Maintains existing qualification pathways: an associate degree from an approved speech-language pathology assistant program or a bachelor's degree with relevant coursework meeting minimum requirements set in Section 8.6.

Preserves moral character requirement for licensure, allowing the Department to consider felony convictions or guilty/nolo contendere pleas without automatic disqualification.

Section 8.5 is scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028.
