IL HB2275

Modifies the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL) for levy years 2024 through 2034 to apply to all taxing districts in Illinois, including home rule units, which were previously exempt.

Changes the extension limitation for levy years 2024 through 2034 from the lesser of 5% or Consumer Price Index increase to 0% or a voter-approved rate of increase.

Prohibits referenda on PTELL applicability for levy years beginning January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2034 under Sections 18-213 and 18-214.

Declares that PTELL Division 5 is a constitutional limitation on home rule units' taxing powers under Article VII, Section 6(g) of the Illinois Constitution.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
