Department of Human Services must implement a 2-year pilot program to distribute FDA-approved 8-milligram naloxone nasal spray kits to licensed community substance use providers and public health departments in Cook, DuPage, Winnebago, Sangamon, and St. Clair counties.

Department must collect data tracking the number of 8-milligram naloxone kits administered by emergency medical service providers and bystanders per overdose incident during the 2-year pilot.

Data collection must include the number of overdose reversals and deaths following administration of 8-milligram naloxone nasal spray.

Department must submit a report on pilot program results to the General Assembly by July 1, 2026.

Act takes effect January 1, 2024.
