Creates an examination alternative for clinical social work license applicants who have failed the licensing exam within 5 years before or on the effective date of this act.

Examination alternative requires completion of at least 3,000 hours of supervised professional experience obtained within the 10 calendar years immediately preceding application.

Supervised experience may be provided by a licensed clinical social worker or, if unavailable, by other appropriate disciplines as defined by rule.

Beginning January 1, 2026, applicants using the examination alternative must be a licensed social worker or school social worker in Illinois prior to acquiring the supervised professional experience.

Examination alternative experience is in addition to any other supervised clinical professional experience already required for licensure.
