• Changes the effective date of community schools provisions from the 2009-2010 school year to the 2024-2025 school year.

• Redefines a community school as a public school establishing strategic partnerships with community resources to promote student achievement and well-being through wraparound services, replacing the previous definition focused on enrichment and life skills.

• Removes the requirement for a request-for-proposal process and technical assistance in grant writing for community school grants from the State Board of Education.

• Adds comprehensive wraparound services requirements including safe transportation, vision and dental care, school-based health centers, additional counselors and social workers, behavioral health services with trauma-informed interventions, family engagement support, student enrichment, and professional development for staff.

• Requires qualifying community schools to provide before and after-school programming, weekend programming, summer programming, a local advisory group, a community school coordinator, trauma-informed intervention programming, and maintain attendance and participation data.
