Requires Illinois Medicaid to cover all non-controlled FDA-approved prescription medications for treating serious mental illnesses including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, bipolar disorders, and major depression, effective July 1, 2023.

Eliminates prior authorization requirements and lifetime restriction limits for covered mental illness medications.

Requires prescribers of covered medications containing an opioid antagonist to check the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program to verify patients are not actively prescribed opioids.

Limits prescription authority for these medications to board-certified psychiatrists or medical professionals with prescribing authority who routinely treat patients with serious mental illness.
