IL HB2424

Requires the Department of Transportation to provide annual after-tax bonuses of $15,000 per year to engineers employed by the Department for student loan repayment assistance, for a maximum of 5 years.

Eligibility requires the engineer to be a graduate of a college or university located in Illinois and to provide documentation of repayment of higher education student loans taken to attend an Illinois institution.

Engineers must remain employed by the Department for at least 5 years to receive the full benefit.

Engineers who leave the Department's employ prior to completing 5 years of service must return all bonuses received to the Department.

The Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
