IL HB2442

Amends the Illinois School Code to allow school districts to grant subsequent teaching endorsements to employees licensed under Article 21B for specific content areas and grade levels as part of a pilot program.

Authorizes school districts to prepare educators for subsequent endorsements by establishing professional development sequences in place of traditional coursework, subject to State Board of Education and State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board approval.

Requires professional development sequences to include comprehensive review of relevant State learning standards, applicable State content-test frameworks, and relevant educator preparation standards.

Requires applicants to meet all endorsement requirements, including passing any required content area knowledge tests.

State Board of Education must adopt necessary implementation rules no later than June 30, 2024.
