IL HB2443

Expands hearing aid coverage under Illinois insurance policies to apply to all individuals, removing the previous limitation to individuals under age 18.

Requires accident and health insurance policies and managed care plans amended, delivered, issued, or renewed after the effective date to cover medically necessary hearing instruments and related services when prescribed by a hearing care professional.

Limits coverage to one hearing instrument per ear every 36 months, with related services such as audiological exams, fitting, and repairs covered when deemed medically necessary.

Requires insurers to apply coverage subject to applicable co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, and out-of-pocket limits.

Takes effect January 1, 2025.
