HB2454 Summary

• Deletes provisions requiring the Board of Education to adopt annual budgets by November 15 and submit budgets to the Department of Corrections and State Board of Education for incorporation.

• Removes the exception that allowed commitment to the Department of Juvenile Justice for Class 3 or Class 4 felony violations of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act upon a third or subsequent judicial finding of probation violation for noncompliance with court-ordered treatment or programming.

• Authorizes the Department of Juvenile Justice to continue providing vocational, rehabilitative, or supportive services to discharged youth for up to 12 months upon request by the youth, parent, guardian, or Director of Juvenile Justice.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
