HB2497 Summary

• Allows state officers, members, and employees subject to revolving door prohibitions to request an Inspector General determination on whether they can accept outside employment during or within one year after state employment.

• Inspector General must provide a written determination within 10 calendar days, or the person is automatically deemed eligible for the employment opportunity if no determination is delivered.

• Applies to individuals in positions listed in subsection (h), including General Assembly members, appointed officials, agency heads, procurement officers, and Illinois Gaming Board and Racing Board employees.

• Person may consult with a licensed attorney and rely on any Inspector General determination before or after a formal employment offer is made.
