IL HB2930

Repeals existing Illinois law (765 ILCS 60/7 and 8) that allowed noncitizens to acquire, hold, and dispose of real and personal property on the same terms as natural born U.S. citizens.

Restricts noncitizens' ability to acquire real property to purchases from other noncitizens only, prohibiting purchases from citizens.

Requires that personal estates of noncitizens who die without a will be escheated (forfeited) to the State of Illinois rather than distributed to heirs.

Applies escheatment requirements to land subject to the federal Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act.

Creates new Section 6.1 of the Property Owned by Noncitizens Act to establish the revised restrictions on noncitizen property ownership.
